Worship

Lord’s Day schedule:

Morning Worship Service: 11:00 AM

Evening Worship Service: 5:30 PM

The Bible guides us in all we do.

Sometimes coming to a church you know nothing about can be a little intimidating. We know that coming to a Reformed Presbyterian Church may be a new experience for you, even if you are used to going to church. People might ask where the tv screens, worship teams, and choir are. Others from more liturgical backgrounds will notice the definite lack of glitter and symbols. And some with artistic tastes might comment that the walls are a little bare. Those are all fair comments, because admittedly those things are purposefully absent from our building and worship.

For all that, we don’t think anything is missing. We believe that the Bible tells us everything we need to know about worshiping God. It tells us the necessary heart attitude first: that God is holy, and deserves to be regarded as holy by everyone who approaches Him (Mt. 6.9, Ps 111:9-10, Ps 15:1, Is 6:3). According to his Word, God tells us how we are to approach Him in worship (Ex 20:1-11, Lev 10:1-3; Deut 12:32, Col. 3:16). Thus we follow what is called the Regulative Principle for Worship, which basically says that in worship, whatever God has not commanded us to do is forbidden. Hence, we strive to offer worship according to scripture, and we offer that worship purely and simply and take it seriously. We are the worship team!

So if you visit us you will find that:

We gather at the appointed hour, and take a few minutes before coming into God’s presence as a body of believers to individually and prayerfully prepare our hearts for worship.

Our Minister begins worship with a Call to Worship from God’s word and a prayer, in which we come to God on the merits of Jesus Christ alone.

We pray in Christ’s name (Jn 16:26).

We also sing the 150 Psalms of the Bible (Col 3:16), which are translated from the original languages and set to meter. The Psalms speak of Christ (Luke 20:42-44), and we often introduce them with a few remarks so that all may sing with understanding.

We read scriptures from the New and Old Testaments (1 Tim 4:13).

Our Minister preaches the Word to us (Rom 10:13-14).

We depart with a blessing (benediction) from God’s word, in which God through the Minister places his name and blessing upon his people (Num 6:23-27).

We sincerely hope you will join us for worship.
